Now that Governor's (mud) Ball has been dried up, Northside Festival is rolling in with the sunny skies here in Brooklyn. Film, music and entrepreneurship? Sounds like our type of festival. Let's canvas the schedules and pick out the events we will be attending.

Their iced coffee comes with a shot of espresso thrown in. It is absolutely fantastic.

Sometimes the best part of your day is the bite of a soft, yet crispy baguette and hearing vinegary whispers of gossip about someone's doctor-friend doing something with their stylist-friend.

GET YOUR HANDS ON IT

L' Occitane's Almond products make me a bit nutty. I want to smell like it all day. I usually do not like sweet scents but this, this I can do (bathe with, exfoliate with, sleep with, dream with). I doubt the hand creams will be very useful now that the dry winter air is fading away... I needed something that would make me feel fresh all day. Here are my secret beauty weapons:

THE JEN AND LEK DIET

Lek and I are obsessed with the local coffee spots and Bakeri goods. It's so fun to stroll and grab things from various places. Five Leaves is great for daylight hours--early morning breakfast (where you can spot the Mast Brothers, of Mast Bros Chocolate, having breakfast with their families!), brunch and a lazy lunch. Their dinner hours can feel odd since the spot is small, but you can pre-game here with some cocktails. Bakeri is so obviously fantastic. Their treats are so good that everyone is too busy nursing their treats to notice that the guy from Gossip Girl is sitting there waiting for someone to notice him.

Look out for their galettes, rosemary hazelnut dark chocolate cookies with sea-salt, vegetable quiches and banana breads.

WHITE

White flowers lining the centers and corners of your home makes it feel brighter and calmer. Flowers are as essential to me as tooth-paste. Is it too "domesticated female"? Sorry fellow feminists! I just like pretty things. Remember when Chanel opened up this pop-up flower shop? I wanted to fly to London just for that. You can't wear flowers; you can't walk with them and they die within a week: but oh well. They reflect my own soft, pretty and short mortality. The gravitas!

Perfect thing to have when you are in the process of cleaning up your house for Spring. You can organize your closet and go, "man what have I been doing my whole life? Am I where I wanted to be? I didn't watch Les Miserables yet!"

After the mess you can delve into the new, the unimaginable, and for me, more color in my wardrobe. How will you look in Spring?

THE PRINT WE LOVE

I am a big fan of publishing, mostly little magazines that hold themselves up on more than big advertisers and private stockholders. Self-service is a magazine based in Paris that hold an expectation of themselves. That expectation is the thrill of a glossy, editorial look without the bullshit celebrities wearing borrowed Couture plastered everywhere (it may just be an American editorial thing: everyone, even on Amazon, knows). The people at Self-Service love Couture and simply showcase it at its best.

OPENING SHOES

They're so beautiful.

Here are the shoes Lek got. They are so gorgeous. I love the industrial zipper, buckle on them. The athletic white sole!!!!! I die!!! (*Rachel Zoe*) for a thick contrast sole. They didn't make them in a size 5 (my size in Men's shoes). So sad.

What is in the box?

Oak does minimalism well. The store itself is a white space with black clothes lined up the walls like a chic army. Plus, the staff at the Nassau Avenue location really like Lek ;) and it's right down the street from Five Leaves!

BRISKET

This past Saturday we finally got around to having something big and yummy at Smorgasburg! Yes, Smorgasburg is finally back!

Hooray!!!!

This beautiful sandwich was barbecued well for us, and filled our growling tummies--justifying the 40 minute wait we endeavored on the line.

Typically, we would have gone with the pulled pork sandwich, but their brisket looked irresistible.

Fabulously, we chose well, because we grew gleaming smiles!

LEVAIN BAKERY

Coming this summer: the cookie that will end all cookies!

When I used to work at the Natural Museum of History, Lek used to pick me up and we would walk to Levain Bakery just for their Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies. PERFECTION. Then, he would whisper in my ear: "wouldn't you love some milk with this?" Of course, there was no milk in sight. LEK!!!!
